Temporary infrastructure for creative practices

Creative Development Sheds

Testing Grounds are seeking EOIs for a unique residency experience. Up until the end of May, Testing Grounds will be accepting EOIs to use two sheds in the Queen Victoria Market as free studios for up to 3 weeks.

The two spaces within the QVM will be available to individual artists or groups to develop work to be shown at the end of the month. There are no limitations on mediums. Everything from sumo wrestling theatre to 17th century portrait paintings. The sheds are roughly between 30-60sqm in size depending on the space.

As a part of the residency, you are encouraged to interact with the Queen Victoria Market community, occasionally opening the doors for the public to see what you are up to during your time on site. It is also expected that towards the end of your residency you stage a talk, workshop or exhibition.

Testing Grounds will also provide a $500 honorarium to each artist or group to support their practice over the residency period.
