Theatre Laboratory

Luke Macaronas

7-28 Feb 20236:00pm to 9:00pmFreeResearchTheatreWorkshop

This is a free, weekly performance-making workshop at Testing Grounds run by Luke Macaronas during February for artists, students, and curious movers who want to explore strategies for devising performance.

About Theatre Laboratory

Luke Macaronas is a queer performance maker whose work explores links between Catholic rituals, having sex, burlesque dance, folk dance, and butoh. Macaronas will bring his practice and ideas to this lab in order to trial and share various ways of training the body and creating work.

Macaronas is looking for a theatre that makes you turn your head. A theatre that reaches over your shoulder and pulls your history onto the stage. A theatre that finds agency not in the idealism of identity, but in the material reality of this milieu.

This lab is designed to conduct ‘experiments in performance’—looking for practices that enable us to confront and create using the personal, public, physical, and political crises of this moment.
