Moreland City Band Phoenix Project
Testing Grounds Summer Emporium is coming to an end and we want to go out with a bang.
Spend your morning roaming the city and finish with a picnic at the Market Square Pop-up Park in QVM Precinct with the eclectic Moreland City Band Phoenix Project. There will be brass instruments growing out of the grass, wind instruments floating down from the sky, drums to keep you in time and a piano for good measure. Grab some food and a drink from the market, bring it down and enjoy a free concert on a balmy Summer afternoon.
Moreland City Band (MCB) is a dynamic community music organisation based in Brunswick, Melbourne. The Band – and its antecedents in Brunswick and Coburg – has been pumping out brassy tunes since 1882. In recent times Moreland City Band has been reinvented, evolving beyond traditional brass band music to encompass more diverse musical styles.
The Phoenix Project is open to competent amateur or professional musicians. The instrumentation of the band includes upper and lower brass and wind instruments, piano, drums and electric bass. The Phoenix Project is lead by Ben Gillespie.
