Hereditary Symbols is an in-progress installation, visual development and public activation created in and with the Queen Victoria Market precinct. I’m interested in the market as a site of collective memory, and the potential for camera-less photography to communicate ideas around time and place in this context. Through material/refuse collection and site research, I will create a series of cyanotype prints on wood referencing site architecture, heritage and fresh produce. I’m interested in how live production, presentation and public demonstration of works are guided by generative processes, to inform new understandings of market ecologies and public space. Come help shape and make the installation.
