VOW (Visible Older Women) – The Pedestal Project.
A procession of older women carry their own pedestals. Standing on high, as statues of themselves, they see and are seen. This project places older women in view, addressing the (in)visibility experienced by many older women, while also highlighting the absence of female statues in Melbourne. Of Melbourne’s 580 statues only 7 represent real women. Creating a colonnade within the Public Art Park, the VOW women celebrate older women while adding to the visibility of women in Melbourne.

The Rubbish Collective cares about collecting not consuming, about reusing and repurposing. They roam the market picking up discards and throw aways. Having fun together, looking here and there, they jangle and rustle their way around, gathering plastic and assorted treasure to further adorn their colourful outfits.
